  • Îles de Lérins

The islands group of the “îles de Lerins” lies between the Golfe de Napoule and the Golfe Juan. The two principal islands are Sainte Marguerite and Saint Honorat.

As early as the fifth and sixth century the islands were an important Center of eclesistical erudition and monastic life and a prison. It is said that the prison held the “Masque de Fer”, about whom Voltaire and Alexandre Dumas both wrote. That is based on a legend, but is a fact that there must have been a very important prisoner there from 1687 until 1698.

 

  • Antibes - Cap d’Antibes - Juan les Pins

Antibes is a resort town in the Côte d'Azur, located between Cannes and Nice. Integrated to Antibes Juan-les-Pins, the technopole of Sophia-Antipolis is located north east of the city and is the headquarter of many international companies (especially hi-tech).

Antibes is a leisure-industry town affectionately called Antibes-Juan-les-Pins. The Antibes old town is a beautiful walked city and it is also famous for the Vauban Fortress. Antibes is also one of the main harbors of the Riviera.

 Visiting Antibes Juan-les-Pins can be a relaxing or stimulating experience. It is the area that many tourists flock to, where the beaches and the nightlife can be found is a Mediterranean town with 25 kilometers of coastline containing creeks, escarpments, rocky areas, and fine sandy and pebble beaches.

The Cap d'Antibes is a small piece of paradise, you can visit it by taking the sign posted path which follows the coastline and takes you into this immense park which is scrupulously maintained .

It's also home to a number of millionaires chateau and dream residences; the famous "Eden Roc", hotel is reputed to be the most beautiful hotel in the world and can be found at the point of the "Cap".

 

  • Saint-Tropez

Since the 1960s, the success of this small town is due to the number of famous people, actors, painters, artist who came to Saint-Tropez. Of course this lovely fishing village is very attractive with a lot of advantages: beaches, museum, pubs, discos, sea and so on.

 

  • Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat

One of the pearls of the French Riviera, such is Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat. This elegant seaside resort, equipped with a marina, is renowned in the whole world for its wonderful peninsula which can be discovered thanks to many pedestrian paths.

Two of the major activities to do in Cap-Ferrat are strolling along the peninsula on the beautiful rocky path admiring the views and the villas, and having a relaxing meal in the restaurants lining the port or just above in the town.

 

  • Nice

Its worth taking the time to discover Nice in depth: wander at random through the narrow streets of the old town and then stroll along the famous "Promenade des Anglais" before entering into the heart of the city with its rich architectural and cultural heritage and its parks and gardens.

Nice use to be Italy...The 17th Century witnessed the flourishing of baroque art in Nice. Façades were painted in warm reds and yellows, ochre and burnt sienna; doorways and window sills were given contrasting colors and woodwork was painted in cold blues and greens.

The restoration of the façades over the last few decades has returned Nice to its former baroque glory. Other striking examples of this artistic tradition are the churches of the old town like Cathedrale Sainte Reparate.

 

  • Monaco - Monte Carlo

Monte Carlo is one of Monaco’s various administrative areas, is known for its casinos, gambling, glamour, and of famous people.

Monte Carlo quarter includes not only where the famous “Le Grand Casino” is located. It also includes the neighborhoods of Saint Michel, Saint Roman/Tenao, and the beach community of Larvotto. It borders the French town of Beausoleil.

Founded in 1866, Monte Carlo has a name of Italian origin meaning "Mount Charles", named after the prince then reigning, Charles III of Monaco.

Monte-Carlo will allow you to discover the many facets of the Principality. Monaco's exceptional location on a rock, between mountain and sea, its gardens, its athletic and cultural events, all qualities which make it the ideal destination.

 

  • Mandelieu-la-Napoule

Situated at the gateway to Cannes, between the Esterel hills and the Tanneron woods, this is the perfect spot for nature lovers. Standing with your feet in the water, you can feel the Mediterranean breeze on your face, heavy with the scent of mimosa and pine trees...

 

  • Grasse

The region is a remarkable destination, featuring stunning perched villages and gentle hills, covered with olive trees, rolling all the way down to the sea.

Grasse has had a prospering perfume industry since the end of the 18th century.

  • Menton

A charming town full of mystery is located at the french-italian boarder right on the coast. Surrounded by mountains, Menton is protected from winds and benefits from a wonderful weather. For dozens of years, the lemon festival delights thousands of people who come from all parts of the world. The Lemon has become the symbol of the city of Menton.

 

  • Vallauris

While walking on hills of mimosas which encircle Vallauris, everyone can admire the panorama which extends from Nice, Antibes and its Cape, Cannes and The islands of Lerins, Esterel, up to Grasse more in North and Prealpes, still snow-covered on bottom of sky-blue.

You will find galleries for art and ceramics that represent some of the best in both regional and contemporary art. City officials have gone to great length to revive these traditional art.

 

  • Villefranche-Sur-Mer

Your step will lead you to La Citadelle (The Citadel) and its gardens. From there go to the old city and its streets, do not miss the Rue Obscure ( Dark Street) and the Eglise St Michel (St Michael Church), and especially the Chapelle St Pierre ( St Peter Chapel) decorated by Jean Cocteau.

 

  • Saint-Vallier-de-Thiey

Between sea and mountain in the back country of Grasse, Saint Vallier de Thiey is ideal for enjoying outdoor activities such as hiking, mountain-biking and discovering prehistoric sites.

 

  • Saint Paul de Vence

St. Paul is a beautiful medieval fortified village perched on a narrow spur between two deep valleys. The village itself is one of the most intact medieval examples of the region, with much of the ramparts still there.

The beauty of the surrounding area, quality of life and exceptional light has inspired numerous famous artists, painters, writers and poets, some of whom took up residence in the village.

You can find signatures from some of these famous artists at the Fondation Maeght which has a large collection of paintings, sculptures, drawings and other graphic works from the 20th century.
The Russian born painter Mark Chagall is buried in the Saint Paul-de-Vence cemetery
